Ingredients
  

Donuts

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Maple Glaze

  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk or water

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate medium bowl, whisk together milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined without overmixing to avoid tough donuts.
  • Transfer batter to a piping bag and fill each donut pan cavity two-thirds full.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and springy, then cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Maple Glaze

  • Whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and 1-2 tablespoons of milk or water in a shallow bowl until smooth.
  • Once donuts are completely cool, dip the top of each into the glaze and place back on the wire rack to set.
