Equipment

  • Parchment Paper or Silicone Baking Mats
  • Large Bowl
  • Electric Mixer
  • Wire Rack

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks) softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Add-in

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (12 ounces)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Mixing

  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips by hand until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between them.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.

Cooling

  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!

Notes

For best results, make sure your butter is truly softened but not melted. You can also chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to prevent spreading and enhance flavor.
