Equipment

  • 8x8 inch square baking pan
  • parchment paper or aluminum foil
  • large, microwave-safe bowl
  • spatula
  • sharp knife
  • cutting board

Ingredients

Fudge Base

  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups (12-ounce bag) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter

Flavoring & Topping

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies divided

Instructions

Preparation

  • Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper or foil, ensuring overhang for easy removal, then lightly grease it.

Cooking

  • Combine condensed milk, chocolate chips, and butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute, stir, and continue in 30-second intervals until smooth and melted, being careful not to overheat.
  • Stir in vanilla and peppermint extracts until fully combined, creating a thick and glossy mixture.
  • Gently fold in half of the crushed peppermint candies.
  • Pour the fudge into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the remaining crushed peppermint candies on top, gently pressing them into the fudge.
  • Refrigerate for 2-3 hours or overnight until completely firm.

Serving

  • Lift the fudge from the pan using the overhang and slice into 1-inch squares with a sharp knife, wiping the blade between cuts for cleanliness.

Notes

For an extra festive touch, use green or red food coloring in the fudge before chilling. Ensure peppermint candies are finely crushed for even distribution and easier cutting.
