  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt adjust to taste

  • Drain and thoroughly rinse the black-eyed peas under cold water, then pat them very dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the dried black-eyed peas with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and optional cayenne pepper; toss until evenly coated.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes, then arrange the seasoned black-eyed peas in a single layer in the basket, cooking in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  • Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously every 5 minutes to ensure even browning and crisping.
  • Continue air frying until the peas are golden brown and deeply crispy; let them cool slightly before serving as they will crisp up further.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cumin or chili powder to the seasoning mix. These crispy black-eyed peas are great as a snack, on salads, or as a crunchy topping for soups.
