  • 1.5 - 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 18 oz bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • red pepper flakes Optional: A pinch of red pepper flakes

Cooking Steps

  • Place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the BBQ sauce, chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until evenly mixed.
  • Pour the BBQ sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker, ensuring the chicken is well coated.
  • Cook on LOW for 3-4 hours or on HIGH for 2-3 hours until the chicken is very tender and easily shreddable.
  • Remove the cooked chicken from the slow cooker, shred it using two forks, and then return it to the pot to stir into the BBQ sauce until fully coated. Serve warm.
