Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x5 inch loaf pan by greasing and flouring it, or lining with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until mostly smooth, leaving a few small lumps for texture.
  • Add melted butter, sugar, egg, milk, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas and whisk until well combined.
  • In a separate larger bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Pour the wet banana mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix. Gently fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.
  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan.

Baking & Cooling

  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then remove and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Ensure bananas are very ripe for the best flavor and sweetness. Do not overmix the batter to keep the banana bread tender. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
