Equipment

  • slow cooker
  • forks

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2-3 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or bone-in/boneless thighs)
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 packet (1 oz) au jus gravy mix
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoncinis or more, to taste
  • 1/4 cup pepperoncini juice
  • 1/2 stick (4 tbsp) unsalted butter

Instructions

Cooking Steps

  • Place the chicken breasts evenly in the bottom of your slow cooker; no liquid is needed as the chicken will release its own.
  • Sprinkle the entire packet of ranch seasoning mix directly over the chicken, followed by sprinkling the au jus gravy mix over the chicken.
  • Scatter the sliced pepperoncinis over the chicken, then pour the pepperoncini juice over everything.
  • Place the pats of butter on top of the chicken and seasonings.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours until the chicken is incredibly tender and easily shreddable.
  • Once cooked, remove and shred the chicken using two forks, then return it to the slow cooker and stir it into the delicious sauce to soak up the flavor; serve warm.

Notes

This recipe is incredibly versatile; feel free to adjust the amount of pepperoncinis to your taste. For an even richer sauce, you can add a small amount of cream cheese during the shredding step. This dish is perfect served over mashed potatoes, rice, or even as a sandwich filling.
