Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Turkey (90% lean or leaner) (450g)
  • 4-6 cups Mixed Steamed Vegetables (e.g., broccoli florets, carrot slices, green beans, bell pepper strips, zucchini, snap peas)
  • 1-2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1/2 medium Onion, diced (optional)
  • Salt and Black Pepper to taste
  • 1-2 tsp Seasonings (e.g., Italian seasoning, paprika, chili powder, or dried herbs)
  • 1 tbsp Water or Broth (if needed)

Optional for serving

  • Lemon wedges
  • soy sauce
  • fresh parsley or cilantro

Instructions

Instructions

  • Wash and chop all chosen vegetables into bite-sized pieces. Set up a steamer basket over a pot with about an inch of water.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add diced onion (if using) and cook until softened, then add the ground turkey and cook until no longer pink.
  • Drain excess fat, stir in minced garlic, salt, pepper, and chosen seasonings, then cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and keep warm on low heat.
  • While the turkey cooks, bring the water in the steamer pot to a boil. Add tougher vegetables first and steam for 3-4 minutes, then add quicker-cooking vegetables and continue steaming for another 3-5 minutes until tender-crisp.
  • Carefully add the steamed vegetables to the skillet with the seasoned ground turkey, toss gently to combine and heat through.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider marinating the turkey for 30 minutes with a dash of soy sauce and a pinch of ginger before cooking. You can also add a squeeze of lemon juice over the cooked dish for brightness.
