Equipment

  • Large Skillet or Dutch Oven
  • 9x13 inch baking dish

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) 80/20 lean ground beef
  • 1 large yellow onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 (14.5 oz / 411g) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (15 oz / 425g) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup (240ml) beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups uncooked egg noodles
  • 2 cups (225g) shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

Cooking Steps

  • Brown the ground beef in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, breaking it up and draining any excess fat.
  • Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, then stir in the minced garlic for another minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, then bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  • Stir in the uncooked egg noodles until submerged, then transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish, cover with foil, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the foil, sprinkle with shredded cheese, and return to the oven, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes until bubbly; let rest for 5-10 minutes.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the Italian seasoning. Feel free to use your favorite cheese blend instead of just cheddar.
