  • 5-6 slices melting cheese Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Gruyere, or a mix
  • 2-3 tablespoons unsalted butter softened

Instructions

Preparation

  • Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out two heart shapes from each slice of bread, aiming for 10-12 hearts.
  • Lightly spread softened butter on one side of each bread heart.

Assembly and Cooking

  • Place half of the buttered bread hearts, butter-side down, and top each with a slice of cheese (cut to fit).
  • Add another buttered bread heart on top, butter-side up, to complete the mini sandwiches.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat and cook the sandwiches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and cheese is melted.
  • Remove from pan, and for extra flair, slice each heart diagonally in half before serving immediately.

Notes

For best results, use good quality bread that isn't too thin. You can also experiment with different cheese combinations for varied flavors.
