Instructions

Cooking Steps

  • Chop the onion, bell pepper, and mince the garlic to have all ingredients ready for cooking.
  • Heat olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, then add ground beef and break it up until browned.
  • Carefully drain any excess grease from the skillet to ensure a less greasy final dish.
  • Add chopped onion and bell pepper to the beef in the skillet, cook for 3-5 minutes until softened, then add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in tomato paste, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper, cooking for 1 minute to toast spices and deepen flavor.
  • Pour in diced tomatoes, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce, bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 10-15 minutes to meld flavors.
  • If using frozen corn or peas, stir them in during the last 5 minutes of simmering.
  • Remove from heat, optionally sprinkle with shredded cheese to melt, and serve hot.
