  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 lean
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning 1 oz
  • ¾ cup water or beef broth
  • 12 taco shells or small flour tortillas

Cooking Instructions

  • Cook ground beef and chopped onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned and onion is softened (6-8 minutes).
  • Drain excess fat from the pan.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant, then add taco seasoning packet and water or beef broth.
  • Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until liquid is absorbed and mixture thickens.
  • While beef simmers, warm taco shells or tortillas according to package directions or in a dry skillet/microwave.
  • Set out warm taco shells/tortillas, seasoned beef, and toppings for everyone to assemble their tacos.

Notes

Adjust spice level by adding more or less taco seasoning, or a pinch of cayenne pepper with the garlic. For a healthier option, use lean ground turkey or chicken. Serve with a fresh squeeze of lime juice for extra zing.
