Equipment

  • large skillet
  • paper towels

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound large or jumbo shrimp peeled and deveined, tails on or off
  • 4-6 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped, for garnish
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel and devein the shrimp, then rinse them under cold water and pat them dry. Season the shrimp with salt and black pepper.
  • Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil and butter. Allow the butter to melt and become fragrant.
  • Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) to the pan and sauté for 30-60 seconds, stirring constantly, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  • Add the seasoned shrimp to the hot pan in a single layer, cooking in batches if necessary. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat, drizzle with fresh lemon juice, and toss gently. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, do not overcrowd the pan when cooking shrimp to ensure even cooking and a nice sear. Adjust red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level.
