Classic Valentine’s Day Muddy Buddies
This festive treat, also known as Puppy Chow, combines crispy Chex cereal with a luscious peanut butter chocolate coating, all dusted with powdered sugar and adorned with Valentine's Day candies and sprinkles. It's a fun and easy-to-make snack, perfect for sharing the love on Valentine's Day, offering a delightful mix of sweet, salty, and crunchy in every bite.

Ingredients
Muddy Buddies Base
- 9 cups Chex Cereal (Rice or Corn)
- 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- ½ cup Creamy Peanut Butter
- ¼ cup Butter
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Coating & Toppings
- 3 ½ cups Powdered Sugar
- ½ cup Valentine’s Day Candies/Sprinkles
- ¼ cup White Chocolate Chips (for drizzle) Optional
Instructions
Preparation
- Measure 9 cups of Chex cereal into a large bowl and set aside.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter; microwave in intervals until smooth, then stir in vanilla extract.
Coating & Cooling
- Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently fold until evenly coated.
- Divide coated cereal into two bags, add powdered sugar to each, seal, and shake until thoroughly coated.
- Spread the coated cereal onto a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool for 15-20 minutes; optionally, drizzle with melted white chocolate and let set.
Finishing Touches
- Once cooled, transfer to a serving bowl and stir in Valentine’s Day candies and sprinkles.

Notes
For an extra touch, you can use pink or red colored white chocolate for drizzling. Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for easier mixing. Store leftover Muddy Buddies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
