  • Medium bowl
  • Whisk
  • Wire rack

Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks), softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix-ins

  • 10-12 Oreo cookies roughly crushed (about 1 cup of pieces)
  • 1 cup Valentine's Day M&M’s (red, pink, and white M&Ms)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl.
  • In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

Mixing and Baking

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in the crushed Oreo pieces and Valentine's Day M&M’s until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • For thicker, chewier cookies, cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to develop flavor.
  • Drop rounded spoonfuls (about 1.5-2 tablespoons per cookie) onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden, and the centers are still soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chilling the dough is optional but highly recommended for a better texture and flavor!
