Classic Zesty Shrimp Tacos

  • 1 lb shrimp peeled, deveined, and patted dry
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 12 small corn or flour tortillas street taco size
  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • lime cut into wedges

For the Zesty Lime Crema

  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp hot sauce optional, adjust to taste
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of garlic powder

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, combine the dried shrimp with olive oil and all the seasonings; toss until evenly coated.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the seasoned shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque, being careful not to overcook.

Assembly

  • While the shrimp cooks, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.
  • Whisk together sour cream (or Greek yogurt), lime juice, hot sauce, salt, and garlic powder in a small bowl until smooth to make the Zesty Lime Crema.
  • Fill each warm tortilla with shrimp, shredded cabbage, a drizzle of lime crema, and garnish with cilantro and a squeeze of fresh lime juice.

Serving

  • Serve the shrimp tacos immediately.

Notes

For an extra kick, add more hot sauce to the crema or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to the shrimp. You can also customize your tacos with other toppings like avocado or salsa.
