Equipment

  • Small bowl
  • Cookie scoop (optional)
  • Parchment paper
  • Plate
  • Shallow dishes
  • Medium skillet
  • Tongs
  • Slotted spoon

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 8 ounces goat cheese log chilled
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs finely chopped (e.g., chives, parsley, dill), optional
  • 2-3 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • If desired, gently mix the fresh herbs with the goat cheese in a small bowl. Roll the chilled goat cheese into 1-inch balls and place them on a parchment-lined plate.
  • Chill the goat cheese balls in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to help them hold their shape during breading.
  • Prepare three shallow dishes: one with seasoned flour, one with beaten egg, and one with panko breadcrumbs.

Breading and Frying

  • Coat each chilled goat cheese ball in flour, then dip in beaten egg, and finally roll in panko breadcrumbs, pressing lightly for an even coating.
  • Heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  • Carefully place breaded goat cheese balls into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan, and cook for 2-3 minutes, turning frequently until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the goat cheese balls with a slotted spoon; drain excess oil on a paper towel-lined plate and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, ensure the goat cheese is well-chilled before rolling and breading. You can also experiment with different herb combinations, such as thyme or oregano, for varied flavor profiles.
