  • In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar, then beat in eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  • Add flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and salt to the same bowl. Gently stir until just combined; do not overmix.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spread evenly, and bake for 30-35 minutes until a wooden skewer comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan on a wire rack for 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter to keep the cake tender. Using firm, sweet-tart apples will give the best flavor and texture.
