Equipment

  • Espresso machine
  • Serving mug
  • Frothing pitcher
  • Steam wand

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 double shot (2-2.5 oz) freshly pulled espresso
  • 6-8 oz cold whole milk or oat milk for dairy-free
  • 1-2 teaspoons honey to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon plus extra for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pull a double shot of espresso directly into your serving mug, following the instructions for a classic espresso.
  • While the espresso is hot and fresh, stir in the honey until it is completely dissolved.
  • Pour the cold milk into a frothing pitcher, filling it to just below the spout.
  • Position the steam wand tip just beneath the milk surface and fully open the steam valve to aerate the milk, listening for a gentle "tearing paper" sound for 3-5 seconds to create a little foam.
  • Fully submerge the steam wand, creating a swirling vortex in the milk, and heat until the pitcher is warm to the touch (around 140-150°F / 60-65°C).
  • Tap the pitcher gently on the counter to remove any large bubbles, then swirl the milk vigorously to integrate the foam and create velvety microfoam.
  • Immediately pour the steamed milk into the espresso-honey mixture in a consistent stream; attempt latte art if desired.
  • Garnish the latte with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon on top, then serve and enjoy.

Notes

Adjust honey and cinnamon to your personal taste. For optimal frothing, ensure your milk is very cold before steaming.
