Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Large microwave-safe bowl or double boiler
  • Whisk
  • Separate medium bowl
  • Wire rack

Ingredients

Brownie Batter

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter (2 sticks), melted
  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 4 Large Eggs at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (Dutch-processed recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips or Chunks (semi-sweet or dark), optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing an overhang for easy removal.
  • Lightly spray the parchment paper with non-stick spray.

Mixing Wet Ingredients

  • Melt the butter and 1 cup of chocolate chips (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, stirring until smooth.
  • Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding the granulated sugar and whisking until fully combined.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated, then stir in the vanilla extract until glossy.

Combining Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined without overmixing.
  • Gently fold in the remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips or chunks, if desired.

Baking and Cooling

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  • Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack for at least 2-3 hours; for extra fudginess, chill in the fridge for an hour after reaching room temperature.

Serving

  • Once cooled, use the parchment paper to lift the brownies from the pan, then cut into squares and serve.

Notes

For the best fudgy texture, ensure not to overbake the brownies. The center might still look slightly soft when removed from the oven, but it will set as it cools. Chilling the brownies significantly enhances their fudginess and makes for cleaner cuts.
