Equipment

  • Medium bowl
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Shallow dish
  • 9x13-inch serving dish
  • Plastic wrap

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lbs fresh strawberries (4-5 cups), hulled and sliced
  • 1-2 packages ladyfingers (Savoiardi Biscuits) (24-30 individual biscuits)
  • 16 oz mascarpone cheese (two 8-oz containers)
  • 1 cup heavy cream chilled
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar , plus 2-3 tablespoons for strawberries
  • 1-2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup espresso or strong coffee cooled (or milk/strawberry juice for caffeine-free)

Optional Garnish

  • Fresh mint leaves
  • extra strawberry slices
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, gently toss most of the sliced strawberries with 2-3 tablespoons of granulated sugar and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to release juices; reserve about 1/2 cup of the freshest slices for garnish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat chilled heavy cream until stiff peaks form, and in a separate bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and vanilla extract, then gently fold in the whipped cream until smooth.
  • Pour the cooled espresso, strong coffee, or alternative dipping liquid into a shallow dish.

Assembly and Chilling

  • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee, ensuring it is moistened but not soggy, then arrange a single layer at the bottom of a 9x13-inch serving dish.
  • Spread about half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers, then top with about half of the sugared strawberries.
  • Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers, the remaining mascarpone cream, and the rest of the sugared strawberries.
  • Decorate the top with the reserved fresh strawberry slices, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.

Notes

For best results, allow the tiramisu to chill overnight to ensure the flavors meld and the ladyfingers fully soften. If you prefer a less sweet dessert, reduce the amount of sugar added to the strawberries and mascarpone cream. Adjust the dipping liquid based on dietary preferences (e.g., milk for kids, strawberry juice for a fruitier taste).
