Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Large bowl

Ingredients

For the Wings

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

For the Pineapple Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

Prepare the Wings

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels, then season them with salt and pepper. Arrange them in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

Make the Pineapple Teriyaki Sauce

  • In a saucepan, combine pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Add the slurry to the simmering sauce, whisking constantly until the sauce thickens.

Cook the Wings

  • Bake the wings for 25-30 minutes, or until cooked through and golden brown.
  • In a large bowl, toss the cooked wings with the pineapple teriyaki sauce until evenly coated.

Serve

  • Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

For extra crispiness, broil the wings for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking. You can also make the sauce ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
