  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey/chicken)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 bag round tortilla chips (like Fritos Scoops)
  • 0.5 cup ranch dressing
  • 0.25 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Optional Toppings

  • Diced tomatoes
  • chopped lettuce
  • sliced jalapeƱos
  • sour cream
  • fresh cilantro

Instructions

  • Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, then drain any excess grease.
  • Add taco seasoning and water to the cooked meat; stir well and simmer for 5-7 minutes until liquid is mostly absorbed, then remove from heat.
  • Arrange round tortilla chips on a serving platter or individual plates.
  • Spoon a small amount of seasoned taco meat onto each tortilla chip.
  • Dollop about 1/2 teaspoon of ranch dressing on top of the taco meat on each chip.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of shredded cheddar cheese over the ranch, and add any desired optional toppings.
  • Serve immediately to ensure the chips remain crunchy.

Notes

For extra crunch, lightly toast the tortilla chips in the oven before assembling. You can also prepare the seasoned meat ahead of time and reheat it just before serving for an even quicker assembly.
