Romantic Caprese Skewers with Balsamic Glaze

  • 1 pint Cherry tomatoes
  • 8 ounces Fresh mozzarella balls bocconcini
  • 1 bunch Fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Honey or maple syrup optional, for thicker glaze
  • 10-12 Wooden skewers
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper To taste

  • To prepare the balsamic glaze, combine balsamic vinegar and honey in a small saucepan.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce heat to low and cook for 10-15 minutes until it thickens into a syrupy glaze. Let it cool.
  • Assemble the skewers by alternately threading a cherry tomato, a basil leaf, and a mozzarella ball. Repeat this pattern once more on each skewer, finishing with a cherry tomato.
  • Arrange the assembled skewers on a platter and season lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Just before serving, drizzle the cooled balsamic glaze generously over the skewers.

Notes

For an extra touch, you can lightly toast the wooden skewers before assembly to prevent splintering.
