Optional Egg Wash & Seasoning

  • 1 large egg lightly beaten (optional, for egg wash)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cook the breakfast sausage in a medium skillet until browned, breaking it apart, then drain excess grease and set aside.

Assembly and Baking

  • Combine cooked sausage and shredded cheddar cheese in a small bowl, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  • Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of the sausage and cheese mixture onto the wide end of each crescent roll triangle.
  • Roll up each crescent from the wide to the pointed end, keeping the filling inside.
  • Arrange rolled crescents on the baking sheet and brush with egg wash, if desired, for a golden finish.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sausage and cheese mixture. These crescent rolls are best served warm, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
