Equipment

  • large skillet
  • wok

Ingredients

Ground Turkey Mixture

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For Serving

  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • Sliced green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Cooking Turkey

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey, breaking it up, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add chopped onion halfway through cooking the turkey and sauté until softened, then drain any excess fat.

Flavoring and Thickening

  • Stir in minced garlic and grated fresh ginger, cooking for one minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in chicken broth, soy sauce, and oyster sauce, then bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  • Whisk cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry, then stir it into the simmering turkey mixture.
  • Cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency; season with salt and pepper.

Serving

  • Serve generously over cooked jasmine rice, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic and ginger. Adjust soy sauce to taste, especially if using a higher sodium variety.
