  • Whisk
  • Baking sheet

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Honey Cinnamon Butter (Optional)

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 0.5 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

Making the Dough

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and a pinch of sugar in warm water; let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Stir in the remaining sugar, milk, melted butter, and salt.
  • Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic, then place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled (about 1-1.5 hours).

Shaping and Baking

  • Punch down the dough, then roll it to about 1/2 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
  • Cut into squares or desired shapes and place on a greased baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
  • Cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes or until puffy.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Honey Cinnamon Butter

  • While the rolls bake, whisk together softened butter, powdered sugar, honey, and cinnamon in a small bowl until creamy.

Notes

For extra shine, brush the hot rolls with melted butter immediately after baking. Serve warm with the honey-cinnamon butter for the true Texas Roadhouse experience.
