Equipment

  • 8x8-inch baking pan
  • large saucepan
  • very large mixing bowl
  • electric mixer
  • spatula
  • parchment paper
  • cutting board

Ingredients

Fudge Base

  • 1 package powdered sugar (16-ounce)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1 package sugar cookie mix (15.25-ounce, dry)

Topping

  • 1/2 cup Valentine's Day sprinkles plus more for topping

Instructions

Preparation

  • Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing an overhang on the sides for easy removal of the fudge.

Cooking

  • In a large saucepan, combine butter and milk over medium heat, stirring until melted and simmering; then remove from heat immediately.
  • Sift powdered sugar into a large mixing bowl, then pour the hot butter mixture over it.
  • Add vanilla and optional almond extract, mixing with an electric mixer until smooth, then slowly incorporate the dry sugar cookie mix.
  • Gently fold in 1/2 cup of Valentine's Day sprinkles using a spatula.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared pan, spread evenly, and lightly press to compact.
  • Immediately sprinkle extra Valentine's Day sprinkles on top, pressing them gently into the fudge.
  • Refrigerate for 2-3 hours until completely firm.

Serving

  • Lift the fudge from the pan using the parchment paper, place on a cutting board, and cut into 1-inch squares.

Notes

For best results, make sure the butter and milk mixture is hot, but not boiling when adding to the powdered sugar. This helps create a smooth fudge texture. Be sure to chill the fudge long enough to ensure it's firm and easy to cut into clean squares.
