Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Paper Towels

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined, tails on or off
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine or chicken/vegetable broth
  • large lemon for juice and zest
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • red pepper flakes optional, for heat, pinch

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel and devein the shrimp, then pat dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, then add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant; add red pepper flakes now if desired.
  • Add seasoned shrimp to the hot skillet in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and opaque, being careful not to overcook.
  • Pour in white wine or broth and simmer for about a minute, scraping up any browned bits from the pan, then stir in fresh lemon juice and zest.
  • Remove the skillet from heat, stir in fresh chopped parsley, and adjust seasoning as needed before serving immediately.

Notes

For best results, do not overcrowd the skillet when cooking the shrimp to ensure even cooking and a nice sear. Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your preferred level of spice. Serve with a side of rice or crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
